What the Democrat Domination in the Midterms Will Bring

While other people are writing post-mortems explaining why the Republicans were slaughtered in the midterm elections, I'm just going to say that the Republicans were slaughtered because Donald Trump is unpopular, and prices are high. Should that be reason to vote against Republicans? Probably not. But that's what occurred. Further analysis is unnecessary.

I want to take this opportunity to explain what the Democrat takeover of the House and Senate will bring. The next two years will be filled with legislative gridlock and grandstanding investigations. The Democrat Congress will refuse to negotiate with Donald Trump, and Donald Trump will refuse to negotiate with the Democrat Congress.

That will cause the President to push the limits of executive power, probably beyond what the Constitution allows. And the Democrat House will certainly impeach him again. He won't be removed from office by the Senate, of course. But Democrats will impeach him anyway.

The Democrats will spend the next two years setting the stage for the 2028 election. They'll launch “oversight” investigations and hold hearings against JD Vance, Marco Rubio, and any other Republican that might seek the presidency. The purpose of those will be to create the impression of dishonesty, incompetence, and scandal. Whether the allegations are true or not is irrelevant. They will soil the reputations of any serious Republican presidential candidates.

But the manufactured defamation will extend broadly to all Republicans. The Democrats will pass a lot of socialist legislation. Those bills will be titled something like "The Affordability & Happiness at the Fuel Pump Act," "The Affordability & Happiness in Health Care Act," "The Affordability & Happiness of Groceries Act," "The Affordability & Happiness for Housing Act," "The Affordability & Happiness College Loan Act," and other titles with similarly flowery rhetoric that means nothing.

Senate Republicans could filibuster those bills, but they probably won't. Instead, they'll allow lame duck President Trump to take the heat by vetoing the legislation. The Democrats will then portray those vetoes as proof that Republicans oppose affordability and happiness. Their allies in the propaganda press will dutifully amplify those claims. The next two years will be nonstop information warfare against the Republican Party.

If President Trump resumes military action against Iran (which he should do, provided that regime change is the goal), the Democrats will try to surrender to Iran using the same power of the purse they used to cause South Vietnam's surrender to North Vietnam in the Spring of 1975.

The stock market tends to like divided government. So unless an AI bubble tanks the markets, I think the next two years will likely be good for investors. But the next two years will not be good for America.
